VBS 2021 and A Hot Air Balloon

Our 2021 VBS wrapped up last night after our three nights.  The adults talked about knowing who the true God is, how we can know what God wants, and how to be sure we know God's word when we hear it.  The children had a different session entitled, "Soaring High."  It used a hot air balloon as its logo for the theme.

Spring boarding off that theme, we made the most of our congregational connections.  A special thanks to Jeanette Schneider and the RE/MAX people for providing the hot air balloon.  They blew it up and let the kids get a real close look at it.  They weren't able to give rides, but they did explain the strategies used for flying in a hot air balloon.  It also enabled us to meet some of our neighbors who were, understandably, drawn over to see what was going on.  Ice cream treats were also available.

Here are some photos.

Adult Bible Class -- Finding God

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL – ADULT STUDY

Monday-Wednesday, July 26-28 (6:30 – 8:00 PM)

Finding God

Finding God – Defining Who God Is

Who is God?  What is he like?  Do all religions have the same God?

Finding God – Discerning What God Wants

What does God want?  How can I know?  How can I be sure that God pays attention to me, cares about me, or finds any delight in me?

Finding God – Determining How God Guides Us

Does God speak to me in my dreams, through my thoughts, or in my feelings?  How can I determine God’s will for my life?  How can I be certain of my eternity?

Adults will meet the same time as children for this summer's VBS.  Registration for children's VBS can be found on our web page – www.GoodShepherdNovi.org.

Friends and guests are always welcome.  In fact: BRING THEM!

Family VBS -- July 29-31 (6:30 - 8:00 PM)

Good Shepherd's Family VBS is coming.
July 29-31 (Monday - Wednesday), 6:30 – 8:00 PM.

CHILDREN

The children will be going through a course with the theme: Set Sail!  There will be Bible lessons, songs, and crafts.

          To register, go to http://goodshepherdnovi.org/vacation_bible_school_registration

ADULTS
While the children are having their VBS in the fellowship hall, the adults will meet in the chapel for a different topic.  The Canon of Scripture: Why These Books?

It is a study on how we received the Bible and on what is included in the canon.  “Canon” refers to a stick or a standard (like a “cane”).  We confess 66 canonical books to be the Holy Scriptures.  But why those books?  Why not others?  And what about the Apocrypha—why not them?  We will consider how God gave us the Scriptures and why we regard only the 66 books in our Bible as the word of God.

We understand that not everyone will be able to attend all three evenings due to other scheduling conflicts.  Nevertheless, we encourage you to join us when you can.

After each evening's session, we will offer desserts and have yards games for people to play so that we can have some family fun time too.  The cost is FREE.  All are welcome.
