Local Tourist: Legoland and SeaLife (Auburn Hills, MI)

On Monday, March 25, the Local Tourist and family (well, Laura and Peter) went to Legoland and SeaLife which are both at Great Lakes Crossing in Auburn Hills.  Legoland was neither cheap nor free (what the Local Tourist usually aims for), but this was a Spring Break excursion, so we splurged.  A combo ticket meant that the SeaLife addition was only $10 extra per person.

Peter is at a good age to make the most of Legoland.  I think we ended up being there for about three hours.  My favorite part is Mini-Land which is a model of downtown Detroit as well as a few other local attractions beyond the downtown (e.g., Henry Ford Museum, Detroit Metro airport, MoTown Museum, etc...).  They even had games going on inside Ford Field and Little Caesar's Arena.  The city, however, was under assault from the Duplos, so if it looks like the buildings are falling over, they are.  If you stay in Mini-Land long enough, you get to see Detroit both at night and in the daylight.  That is really cool.

After Legoland and lunch at the food court (Panda Express!), we sent to SeaLife.  We were here for better than an hour.  They did a good job giving children activities to keep them interested in each section of the attraction.

Here are some photos.

Complete with RenCen, Fisher Building, Guardian Building, Penobscot Building, People Mover,
Fox Theater, Ford Field, Comerica Park, Spirit of Detroit, Joe Louis Fist, Opera House, etc.....

Red Wing hockey going on inside.

Peter's Lego car -- good on speed, quite breakable on impact.

Petting hermit crabs, starfish, and a few other tidal pool residents.
