CALL FOR NAMES – SAINTS TRIUMPHAT
Every year, we remember the names of loved ones who have died in the Christian faith, praising God for the mercy he has had upon them and thanking God for preserving them in that saving faith throughout their life. Normally, the names of these departed souls are recalled in a prayer on All Saints' Day, which is November 1. Since Good Shepherd does not have a specific All Saints' Day service, we transfer this prayer and these remembrances to the 3rd Sunday of End Times which focuses on Saints Triumphant.
In addition to members of Good Shepherd who have been called to eternal rest, you may submit the names of your own loved ones who have died in the Christian faith between November 15, 2020 and November 14, 2021. When submitting these names, please included
            1. the name of the deceased
            2. your name
            3. how he/she was related to you
            4. the dates of his/her birth and death, if known

NOTE:  By this time, names submitted will likely not make it into the bulletin.  Names may still be submitted and will be included in the prayer on Sunday.  The prayer, with the names submitted, will be posted on the blog.

LONG-RANGE PLANNING MEETING
THIS SUNDAY (November 14) after church, we will have our monthly Long-Range Planning meeting. The main focus is to determine a vision for what we want our congregation to look like in three years, five years, and/or ten years. Once we have a goal in mind, we can take the steps necessary to get there. The steps will be delegated to the committees we have. All are welcomed and encouraged to be a part of the Long-Range Planning meeting and the committees that will follow up to see that our plans are put to work. Planning great things only goes so far. We need our members committed to doing them and praying that God will bless them. If you have question about the Long-Range Planning committee, please speak to Rob Skrycki.

LITURGY SUNDAY
Liturgy Sunday has been rescheduled to November 21.  This service will offer commentary to explain the rationale behind each part of our service.

OPEN FORUM (VOTERS’ MEETING TO FOLLOW)
On Sunday, November 21, Good Shepherd will be having an Open Forum to discuss the future plans of our congregation. In order to accomplish as much as possible, we all get to play a role and to participate in the working of the congregation. The Open Forum provides a way for you to see how and where you can be active in the work we do together. It also allows you to ask questions about Church Council discussions and to offer input and suggestions for the benefit of our congregation. All confirmed members are welcome to participate.
The Voters’ Meeting will meet immediately following the Open Forum. All men who are members in good standing and over the age of 18 are encouraged to attend.

Holiday Stockings for Heroes
Throughout the month of November, we will partake in a charitable effort called “Holiday Stockings for Heroes.” These are gifts which will be collected and distributed to soldiers and veterans who are hospitalized at Christmas.
On Sunday, November 28 after church, we will need people to help stuff the Christmas stockings. The stockings will be provided. We will “cap” the stockings with knit hats, which will also be provided.
For items which are appropriate for donations and which are not appropriate, see the church bulletin or email back for the list.

ADOPT-A-FAMILY
The Ladies of Good Shepherd are partnering with the Novi Youth Assistance Program in their Adopt-A-Family program. This effort is one of our long-term church goals to reach out to the community. The family assigned has two children—a 4-year-old boy with Cerebral Palsy and a 6-year-old girl.
The deadline for donations is December 1. You may help out the family by taking a paper ornament from the tree posted at the entry of the church building. Write your name on the paper beneath the ornament when you take it. Donated items do not need to be wrapped. Gifts of money are also welcome, especially toward the adaptive bike for the young boy.
If you have any questions, please contact Linda Larson.

PART-TIME SECRETARY
We are grateful that Carol Casmer has accepted the position as part-time secretary for Good Shepherd. We look forward to the benefit she will provide to the congregation and pray that she finds joy and satisfaction in her work.

OFFICE HOURS
Office hours are Monday-Thursday, 9:00 AM – Noon.
