Update from Good Shepherd (October 3, 2019)

Greetings!

REGULAR SCHEDULE RESUMES 

        Divine Services are Sundays at 10:00 AM.

        Sunday School is on Sundays at 8:45 AM.

        Adult Bible Class is on Sundays at 8:45 AM and Wednesdays at 6:30 PM.

        Adult Bible Class will be working our way through the books of 1 & 2 Samuel, seeing how God continued to preserve his plan of salvation.  We will give special attention to the prophet Samuel and to the kings, Saul and David.  NOTE: Sunday morning and Wednesday evening are the same class.

CHOIR TO BEGIN 
Good Shepherd's choir rehearsals are scheduled to begin on Wednesday, October 16 at 7:30 PM.  If you are interested in learning more about choir, please speak to Jeanette Schneider.

Support Our Collegiate Students (SOS)

       After church on Sunday, October 13, the Ladies of Good Shepherd will be meeting to discuss upcoming events and package eleven SOS packages.  This should not take too much time.  Your interest/involvement in these opportunities is appreciated by so many.  We also are accepting your financial support.  Hope to see you there.  If you have any questions, please contact Cathy Mowers, cmowers@comcast.net  or Georgene Kinsman, gjkinsman@sbcglobal.net

TRUNK OR TREAT
On Saturday, October 19 (9:00-11:00 AM), Good Shepherd will be host a Trunk or Treat for our members and for the community.  We will be having cars decorated and their owners handing out goodies to the children who come.  We will have a pumpkin patch where each child can pick up free pumpkin (for as long as they last).  There will be lawn games outside and indoor activities.  Coffee, cider, and donuts will be available.  All this at no cost.  Tell your friends.
Members of Good Shepherd: We will need people to have decorated cars in order to make this a worth while event for our guests.  We would like to have at least ten cars here.  If you have a few hours to spare on Saturday, October 19, please join us.  Call the church (248-349-0565) or email (welsnovi@aol.com) to let us know if you will be able to bring your car for Trunk or Treat.

MISSION FESTIVAL
On Sunday, October 20, Good Shepherd will have a Mission Festival.  We give our offerings regularly to support the preaching of the Gospel around the world.  One of the many missionaries we support with our offerings will be here to tell us about the work we are doing together in south Asia.  Rev. Guy Marquardt (a classmate of Pastor Schroeder) will be our preacher.  A pot luck dinner will follow the service at which Pastor Marquardt and his wife Linda will tell us about the work they are doing.  There will also be a mission display from the country where Pastor Marquardt serves.  Look for a Sign Up Genius link soon so that we know who will be bringing what food for our meal.

REFORMATION RALLY

To give thanks to God for the pure Gospel which was restored to the Chuch by Dr. Martin Luther, our area Reformation Rally will be held at Huron Valley Lutheran High School (33740 Cowan Road, Westland) on Sunday, October 27 at 4:00 PM.  Rev. Craig Birsching of St. John's Lutheran Church of Westland will serve as our preacher.  The choir from HVL will also be singing God's praises.

HVL Open House Family Night – October 8, 2019 (4:30-6:30 PM)
Tuesday, October 8th is HVL's Family Night!  Throughout the year, HVL receives tremendous support from our association congregations and friends of HVL.  This support impacts every student at HVL.  Family Night is an opportunity to say thank you to all of our supporters!  Please join us and invite a friend to come with you.

 Varsity Volleyball - 6:30 pm
 Free Food  –  Hot dogs, chips, desserts

OFFICE HOURS
        Regular office hours at Good Shepherd will be Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM. While there may be some flexibility to this schedule, we will try to keep it as regular as possible.
